Draw Deuces, all we know is what we have.
Squished in the the family station wagon I arrive at this beach summer after summer, where the working class continually searches for moments of escape. These photos explore the simultaneity of frustrated prospects and temporary freedom, the haze of a summer day in black and white. This landscape offers both serene and humorous moments of searching -- for the interior, for the horizon, for the future, for something outside of a routine. On the boardwalk and in the sand, visitors enter a void beyond the limited options of either/or, winner/loser, to a realm of blank fantasy and pause.
